In today's society, how many Chinese men are willing to low down their dignity and become a house husband? Recently, a survey was done among some office male workers aged between 28 and 32 in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The survey shows that in the four cities, the percentage of men who are willing to become "professional house husbands" are 22%, 73%, 34%, and 32%, respectively.

Yang Wenhui, 32, had previously worked for a magazine before returning home to become a house husband. "I had a stable job but my work did not have much room for promotion. My wife was a hundred percent workaholic. So when we got married, we agreed that after she gave birth to a child, she would go out for work and I would stay at home," Yang said.

For another couple, the wife said it was a wise decision for her husband to become a full-time house husband. She would not say that her husband was incompetent. On the contrary, she could sense her husband¡¯s love from his doing domestic chores.

Related surveys show that women willing to work mostly work in the IT, insurance, or the catering sector, where salaries are relatively high. In these families, the husband usually earns less than the wife. So the husband quit his job and stay at home to support his wife.

Ma Li, a businesswoman, said she could understand the husband and wife in this new family mode. "I have met a lot of people in the business circle that live like this and they are doing pretty well. I can understand them," she said.
