700,000 Beijingers go to parks for New Year

Eleven Beijing parks and the Museum of Chinese Garden and Landscape Architecture welcomed a total of 739,000 visitors during the 3-day New Year holiday. The Temple of Heaven, Beihai Park and Taoranting Park were the top attractions.

According to the Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks, the Temple of Heaven was the largest contributor at 123,000 arrivals during the holiday, representing the highest increase of 37 per cent. Beihai Park was the second largest tourist attraction at 120,000 visitors, followed by Taoranting Park at 119,000 arrivals.

Six parks, including the Summer Palace, Yuyuantan Park, Taoranting Park, Beihai Park and Beijing Botanical Garden, jointly held a “Snow Party”, which received nearly 100,000 visitors.

More than 20 exhibitions were presented to the public and welcomed a total of 300,000 people, according to the Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks. Many visitors headed to temples to wish for a prosperous year, or climb the Fragrant Hill and Prospect Hill for fitness.
