An activity to create an opportunity for communication between investors and entrepreneurs of the Internet of Things (IOT) was held in Beijing's most remarkable maker space -- the IC Café in Zhongguancun's Inno Way, on Aug 4.
The event is a follow-up of last year's Innovation Competition of IOT Intelligent Sensing, which hoped to create a site for entrepreneurs and investors to increase communication and helped industrialize entrepreneurship projects.
Three entrepreneurs from the last competition and two college students showed their products, and introduced their core technology, business models, and future plans.
When the head of one project said his project is delayed by the trouble of collecting 2,000 subjects for a blind test, Zhang Jianning, secretary-general of Z-Park Internet of Things Industry Alliance, suggested soliciting subjects online to cut the period of time from half a year to about one week.
Chen Xinxiang, former president of Capinfo, a State-owned IT company, advised a water monitoring and treatment project to set up a company and use a proper business model to solve its shortage of a sales team.
Yang Yida, a freshman from Beijing Wuzi University, surprised experts with his sophisticated design for a smart power strip. "This is part of my smart home series, and I want to try different possibilities," said Yang.
Experts thought highly of Yang's ideas and his practical ability, and they advised him to aim for more inventions.
Participating entrepreneurs got many suggestions and opinions on their ideas, designs, and business models, which are urgently needed for their future development.
The 2015 Innovation Competition of IOT Intelligent Sensing will open in late August.
The Internet of Things is the basis for smart cities and also promotes China's industrial transformation. With the development of Internet technologies, IOT can be widely used in transportation, environmental protection, public security, homes, medicine, and product tracking. The IOT is expected to change people's way of life dramatically.
