NETZSCH growing with nation over the decades
For more than three decades, NETZSCH has combined German engineering expertise with local manufacturing, talent and customer proximity in China. NETZSCH (Lanzhou) Pumps, or NLP, stands as an example of long-term commitment and of the opportunities created through German-Chinese industrial cooperation.
NLP was established in Lanzhou, Gansu province, in 1993 as a joint venture and became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Germany-based NETZSCH Group in 1998. It has grown alongside China's industrial development, expanding its local capabilities, workforce and market presence.
Expanding capacity
Over three decades, NLP has grown from a small operation with 13 employees into one of China's leading manufacturers in the progressing cavity pump industry. By June 2026, the company employed 420 people and generated annual sales of approximately 900 million yuan ($134.92 million), with an annual production capacity of around 35,000 pumps. Its nationwide network of 25 sales offices and 21 after-sales service centers provides customer support across China.
Today, NLP provides advanced pumping and fluid-handling solutions for critical industries including oil and gas, chemicals, environmental protection, food, energy, mining and the rapidly developing new-energy sector.
Shared expertise
NLP's development reflects a model built on both German engineering heritage and Chinese capabilities. German design principles and global quality standards are combined with local manufacturing, engineering talent and proximity to Chinese customers.
NLP operates in accordance with internationally recognized ISO management standards. More than 200 NLP employees have received technical training in Germany, while cooperation with Chinese universities supports the development of local expertise and solutions for increasingly demanding applications. Digitalized processes, lean production principles and continuous improvement strengthen the company's manufacturing and service capabilities.
This combination of international technological expertise and local capabilities enables NLP to respond to the evolving requirements of Chinese customers while remaining connected to the global knowledge and resources of NETZSCH.
NETZSCH's commitment to China continues to be reflected in investment. In 2023, NETZSCH established a production and assembly plant in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province. In 2025, the company expanded its facilities in Lanzhou to strengthen R&D and production capabilities.
These investments underline NETZSCH's long-term confidence in China as an important market, manufacturing hub and source of engineering talent.
Customer focus
The localization extends beyond production: through its nationwide sales and service network, NLP maintains close relationships with customers across key industrial regions in China. Engineers can be dispatched within 24 hours following a fault notification, supported by dedicated service resources and locally available spare parts.
This customer proximity, combined with local manufacturing and the technological expertise of the global NETZSCH organization, has become an important part of NLP's development in China.
Long-term partnership
Ralf Stauske, general manager at NLP, said: "For more than three decades, NETZSCH has built its presence in China on partnership, trust and a long-term perspective. Our development in Lanzhou and Jiaxing shows what can be achieved when German engineering expertise is combined with strong Chinese talent, entrepreneurship and market understanding. We remain committed to investing, innovating and growing together with our customers and partners in China."
NLP will continue to strengthen local innovation, manufacturing and customer service while drawing on the technological expertise and global network of NETZSCH. It is a partnership that connects German engineering heritage with China's industrial dynamism, and one that NLP intends to develop for many years to come.
