Malaysian youth embrace Yunnan's cultural diversity in ethnic attire
A group of Malaysian students recently visited the Yunnan Nationalities Museum in Kunming, where they donned ethnic minority costumes to experience the region's cultural diversity.
Ng Wing Yee, a student at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology in Malaysia, donned one of the outfits for the first time and described it as quite dazzling. She learned that the sound the costume makes is considered to be reminiscent of money flowing in.
For Zhao Miaoqi, a fellow student from the same university, it was also her first experience wearing this traditional garb. "I kind of feel like it's surreal in a way," she said.
They are part of a bilateral youth exchange program, organized by Yunnan University, that brought 41 university students from China and Malaysia together this month to explore cultural similarities and share their experiences in heritage conservation.
