China asks US to end Cuba sanctions
China urged the United States to lift its blockade and sanctions against Cuba immediately and to stop coercing and pressuring the country by any means, including the use of force, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said.
The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly called on Wednesday for an end to the decades-long US economic embargo on Cuba, marking the 34th time that the assembly has adopted a resolution opposing the embargo.
At a daily news briefing in Beijing on Thursday, Guo urged the US to listen seriously to the just calls of the international community.
"The US' illegal economic blockade and unilateral economic sanctions against Cuba have persisted for 64 years, bringing grave suffering to the Cuban people," he said.
China will continue firmly supporting Cuba's just struggle in safeguarding national sovereignty and national dignity and opposing foreign interference and the blockade, Guo said.
