Key meeting focuses on disciplinary inspection
The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee held a meeting on Friday to review a report on the seventh round of disciplinary inspection launched by the 20th CPC Central Committee.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, chaired the meeting.
The meeting hailed the work performance and results of the inspection, which started in April, covering the Party organizations of 36 central Party and government departments.
According to the inspection results, the central Party and government departments concerned have made progress in their work, but there are still some issues that must be taken seriously and addressed earnestly.
The meeting urged solid efforts to amend the problems identified by the inspection, tackle the tough issues and deliver effective rectification.
It called on the central Party and government departments to strengthen their sense of political responsibility in performing their duties and resolutely implement the major decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting noted that it is necessary to consistently deepen reform and faithfully carry out reform tasks, highlighting the need for greater efforts to prevent risks and hidden dangers and ensure both development and security.
It also emphasized the need to strengthen leadership teams, while adopting higher standards and taking more concrete measures to advance full and rigorous Party self-governance. It underscored the importance of maintaining the high-pressure stance on combating corruption to ensure that political institutions conduct themselves with integrity and are upright.
Disciplinary inspection is a form of political supervision conducted by higher-level Party organizations over lower-level Party organizations. It aims to uphold the authority and centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
The guiding principle is to identify problems, create deterrents, drive reforms and promote development, according to the revised regulations on disciplinary inspections released by the CPC Central Committee in February 2024.
The 20th CPC Central Committee has conducted seven rounds of disciplinary inspections since 2023.
