China reaffirms its support to UN
China will continue to shoulder its responsibility as a major country, deepen all-round cooperation with the United Nations and jointly tackle global challenges, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday.
Mao made the remarks as Oct 25 will mark the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the UN.
It marked the return of the Chinese people, one quarter of the world's population, back to the UN stage, which is of great significance and far-reaching impact for China, the wider world and the UN itself, Mao told a daily news conference.
"The Chinese people always remember the valuable support and help we received from friendly countries and individuals," she said.
Over the past 55 years, China firmly supported the UN in playing a central role in international affairs, actively participated in the work of the UN in various fields and faithfully fulfilled its duties as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Mao noted.
China is also committed to strengthening solidarity and cooperation with other countries, advocating for common security, pushing for shared development and promoting dialogue among civilizations as well as advancing the reform and improvement of global governance, she added.
