"The history of the Long March was somewhat downplayed in the history textbooks that we Taiwan compatriots read when we were young. It was only after coming to the Chinese mainland that I came to understand how valuable this part of history is. It is because the CPC stands with the people and is able to remain connected with the people. I think this is the key to why the Long March ultimately succeeded," said Liu Hsuan-cheng, a Taiwan compatriot.
