Pakistani ambassador: AI should help foster cross-cultural understanding
Syed Ali Asad Gillani, ambassador of Pakistan to China, said that effective communication today is no longer measured by the volume of content or the size of its audience, but by credibility, narrative integrity and the ability to bring people closer despite their differences.
He emphasized that AI should not be used merely to mass-produce content, but to foster understanding among different groups. Rather than amplifying existing biases, the technology should be harnessed to break down stereotypes.
Gillani made the remarks at the academic conference "Exchanging, Connecting, and Co-creating: Conference on Shaping New Narratives for International Communication in the AI Age" and the 2026 annual meeting of the Belt and Road Cultural Communication Research Center of the China Federation of Radio and Television Associations, held at Renmin University of China on Oct 17.
