Hong Kong airport expands check-in services, adds free baggage delivery for Canton Fair
Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has boosted its on-site services at the ongoing Canton Fair with expanded airline check-in capacity and its free baggage delivery service to make traveling easier for international merchants visiting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Check-in services for the 140th Canton Fair at Hong Kong International Airport are now available via eight airlines, up from five in prior fairs, according to a statement released by AAHK on Friday. The lineup includes Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Greater Bay Airlines, HK Express, Thai Airways International, and new participants Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, and China Airlines.
To better accommodate international merchants with luggage and procurement samples, AAHK has also broadened the coverage of its complimentary baggage delivery service. Travelers departing from Pazhou Port or Nansha Port within service windows are eligible for the service, the statement said.
Traveling to and from the fair has been made easier. Dedicated staff will transport baggage free of charge to ports of departure, and there are cross-border shuttle buses running from the fair venue to Hong Kong International Airport. Travelers may opt for the Skyshuttle ferry via Pazhou Port or take the cross-border shuttle buses straight to the airport.
Ray Li, general manager of market development at AAHK, said the Canton Fair serves as a crucial bridge between China and global markets, attracting numerous domestic and overseas merchants annually. Li made the remarks at a news conference at the Canton Fair on Friday.
"We hope the ongoing upgrades to on-site check-in, baggage delivery, and cross-border transport will allow business travelers to fly to all parts of the world through Hong Kong International Airport with greater ease after their business visits, and help mainland companies explore international markets," Li said.
