Geely Holding Group has formed a strategic partnership with Google to integrate the tech giant's in-car digital services into eligible vehicles from its portfolio brands in overseas markets where the services are available.

The first applications are planned for the second half of 2027 in markets outside China and the United States, subject to product, regulatory and market-readiness requirements, said the Chinese automaker on Friday.

The partnership reflects Geely Holding's approach of adapting in-car digital experiences to local markets, where customer habits and service ecosystems vary.

The integration will bring Google services, including Google Gemini, Google Play and Google Maps, into vehicle digital cockpits, combining AI-powered voice interaction, navigation, cross-device connectivity and in-car applications.

The rollout will cover eligible overseas passenger vehicles from Geely, Lynk & Co, Proton, Riddara and smart, among other brands under Geely Holding Group.

Further details on supported models, markets and features will be announced as the rollout progresses, said the carmaker.

"People increasingly expect the same level of convenience and connectivity in their cars as they enjoy in their everyday lives," said Shen Yuan, senior vice-president and chief technology officer of Geely Holding.

The partnership aims to deliver a more seamless and intuitive driving experience by bringing digital services directly into vehicles, he said.

Haris Ramic, Android for Cars product director at Google, said the collaboration would bring drivers their preferred apps, navigation services and a personal AI assistant through the vehicle dashboard.

The deal builds on existing cooperation between Google and brands in Geely Holding's portfolio. The Polestar 2, for example, has offered built-in Google services since 2020.
