China's first all-solid-state battery cell meeting new national standard begins production
"The hub helps create a complete industrial ecosystem of batteries, energy storage, new energy vehicles, and intelligent networking, providing essential soil and nutrients for this national breakthrough," said Pei Feng, co-founder and president of Guangzhou Greater Bay Technology Co.
By 2030, the global demand for power batteries will reach 3 TWh, with China capturing 70 percent of the market share. At the same time, all-solid-state batteries are expected to exceed 100 GWh by 2030, according to Pei.
Most solid-state batteries in China are still at the laboratory sample stage, according to Dong Yang, chairman of the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance.
Leveraging the high compatibility of deep eutectic-based composite solid electrolytes with existing mature lithium battery production lines, the company transitioned from liquid to all-solid-state battery manufacturing after conducting targeted modifications and process optimizations on a 4 GWh production line.
"Deep eutectic-based composite solid electrolyte represents a unique technological path. It will inspire the entire battery sector to more actively engage in research and application in this area," said Dong.
