ISLAMABAD - Pakistan continues to run a targeted fuel subsidy program to ease the impact of rising global oil prices on low-income motorists, with relief being provided to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars, according to a statement from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday.

The Prime Minister's Special Relief Scheme was introduced in September 2026 to support citizens who rely on small vehicles for their livelihoods amid higher international fuel prices, the statement said.

Under the program, owners of motorcycles and rickshaws receive 500 Pakistani rupees (about 1.8 US dollars) in weekly fuel assistance through four digital tokens each month, said the ministry.

Earlier on Sunday, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said more than 9 million vehicle owners are benefiting from the petrol subsidy.
