BRI project wins multiple sustainable development awards in Indonesia
Environmental management has expanded from waste collection and cleanup toward community-based resource recovery. Alongside regular environmental cleanup activities, IMIP has supported surrounding villages in establishing three waste banks, engaging more than 400 housewives in waste sorting, and enabling the recovery of more than 30 metric tons of plastic waste. From 2023 to 2026, more than 1,400 tons of waste were collected along the Trans-Sulawesi Highway, while nearly 6,000 waste bins were donated to local villages and schools, contributing to cleaner and more sustainable community environments.
The individual award focuses on a local practitioner committed to rural development. Rahmad Feri has long promoted community gardening and agricultural education, encouraging villagers to develop home gardens and bringing agricultural classes into schools.
In recent years, IMIP's community development initiatives have gradually expanded from one-off material assistance to a broader range of areas. The five awards represent a milestone in IMIP's long-term efforts to advance sustainable development in local communities.
