Chinese automakers have invested in over 80 countries and regions

Chinese automakers have invested in vehicle and parts manufacturing in more than 80 countries and regions, and Chinese vehicles are now sold in over 200 countries and regions, offering global consumers a rich choice of high-quality, affordable products, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Hao Lishun, deputy director of the First Equipment Industry Department of the ministry, made the comments at a news conference for the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference in Beijing on Monday.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, the ministry will deepen international trade and investment cooperation, improve supporting services such as cross-border logistics and investment and financing, strengthen overseas risk prevention and corporate compliance, and guide companies to carry out overseas expansion steadily and in an orderly manner, Hao said.

Hao noted that the intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry chain is long and broad, spanning vehicle manufacturing, parts, automotive chips and industrial software. No single company or country can independently build a complete and mature technological system and industrial ecosystem, he said.

Going forward, the ministry will encourage global collaboration and cross-sector integration to build an industrial development pattern featuring complementary advantages and mutual benefit, Hao said. On one hand, foreign companies are supported to deepen their presence in the Chinese market, leveraging China's complete industrial chain and huge market to innovate and share opportunities. On the other, domestic automakers are encouraged to learn from international best practices, enhance independent innovation and competitiveness, and take Chinese technology and brands to the global market.

Hao also stressed that cross-regional and cross-market development of intelligent connected new energy vehicles requires unified global standards, regulations and coordinated governance. The ministry will continue to use bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to strengthen exchanges on policies, regulations, technical standards and testing, and translate more technological achievements into standards and rules, he said.

The 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference will be held in Beijing from Oct 21 to 23.
