China calls on Ghana to leverage zero-tariff measures for mutual benefit

Vice-President Han Zheng has encouraged Ghana to make full use of China's zero-tariff measures for African countries to achieve greater mutual benefit, win-win results and common development.

Han made the remarks on Friday in his meeting with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He said that China is ready to work with Ghana to fully implement the common understandings reached by the heads of state of the two countries, carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, and advance the China-Ghana strategic partnership to greater depth and substance.

Han noted that China and Ghana had forged deep friendship in striving for national independence and national liberation, and that the two countries share broad consensus on boosting solidarity and development of the Global South.

Under the new circumstances, he said the two sides should further firmly support each other and enhance solidarity and cooperation. China is ready to work with Ghana to advance cooperation in mining, green energy, vocational training and youth development, he added.

Han expressed the hope that Ghana will continue to provide a sound business environment for Chinese enterprises investing and operating there.

Mahama expressed Ghana's sincere appreciation to China for its valuable support and assistance over the years.

He said that Ghana firmly upholds the one-China policy and it looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in trade, investment, mining and manufacturing, and intensifying people-to-people exchanges, to continuously enrich bilateral relations.
