Different Mid-Autumn traditions, shared cultural roots

"We use the pomelo peels to make pomelo hats, so that children and older family members can enjoy time together while wearing them. I think people in different places will celebrate traditional festivals in different ways, but these traditional festivals all carry the long history and rich heritage of Chinese culture," said Chang Feng-ming, a Taiwan compatriot, at a 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival gathering for people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait in Beijing.
