OECD projects global growth at 2.9%
Global economic growth is projected to be 2.9 percent in 2026 and 3.0 percent in 2027, according to the latest Economic Outlook released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on Wednesday. After 3.4 percent growth last year, the global economy is set to slow to 2.9 percent growth in 2026, slightly better than the 2.8 percent forecast in June, it said.
RWANDA
Diplomatic ties with Belgium restored
Rwanda and Belgium on Tuesday agreed to restore diplomatic relations, according to a statement released by Rwanda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. On March 17, 2025, Rwanda severed its diplomatic relations with Belgium, accusing it of consistently undermining Rwanda "both well before and during the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in which Belgium has a deep and violent historical role, especially in acting against Rwanda".

Mass shooting at a house leaves 11 dead
Three shooters killed at least 11 people, including a woman who was believed to be pregnant, in an attack at a house party in South Africa, police said on Wednesday. Three others were wounded in the mass shooting late Tuesday night in KwaMakhutha township around 30 kilometers south of the east coast city of Durban. The people had gathered at the house for a party when the suspects entered the house and opened fire, police said.
