Efforts called to lift services consumption

As the National Quality Month — first launched in 1978 — started its activities in September at the arrangement of the State Administration for Market Regulation with other central agencies, experts called for more efforts to help lift services consumption. Deng Wei, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the China Council for Brand Development, said amid services consumption upgrade, service brands are a key support for building a quality-strong country, and the SAMR unit will help promote the leapfrog development of service brands. CCBD and Peking University co-held an event on Sept 16 to boost the high-end, and international development of service brands in China.

NDB China Portfolio Evaluation makes debut

The New Development Bank's Independent Evaluation Office on Tuesday released its first China Country Portfolio Evaluation, covering 27 projects approved from 2015 to 2024 with total committed financing of about $8.86 billion. The portfolio earns a "successful" rating across five core evaluation dimensions, and leads peer multilateral lenders with 68.8 percent of loans denominated in renminbi. The evaluation also puts forward targeted recommendations to deepen cooperation and amplify the bank's global development impact.

More moves to aid rail staff health, unity

Amid Chinese railway operators' urge to better enhance the livelihoods of rail staff, China Railway is sponsoring various events to improve employee health and well-being. Shanxi Railway Operation Service Co Ltd initiated a soccer tournament to enrich the cultural and physical fitness of staffers, and ease their work pressure. Employees from across the company showcased their passion and sporting spirit through various competitions, saying it helped them exchange skills and enhance camaraderie. They said this also improves their unity and cooperation in daily work.
