Chinese technology company Baidu said that, given the market's enormous potential and relatively low penetration, it will increase its investment in artificial intelligence for the workplace to help users better reduce costs and improve efficiency.

At its AI Day event held in Shanghai on Monday, Baidu's document platform and cloud storage service division announced the plan to accelerate its office AI business to go global and to upgrade its global brand.

Under the continuous cultivation of the domestic and international office track, the company's general-purpose AI agent, namely Kuku AI, has now accumulated over 40 million monthly active users worldwide. The overseas one-stop office AI platform Oreate AI, launched by Baidu last year, has been revitalized as the overseas version of Kuku AI — now with a new name, "Kooko" — accumulating over 10 million overseas users within a year, data from Baidu showed.

Kuku AI is growing in China's large knowledge and data ecosystem, creating a global office AI solution that serves individuals and organizations, with the aim of achieving "accuracy, professionalism, and understanding". It can be used not only on Baidu Wenku and Baidu Netdisk, but also on web pages, desktop clients, apps, mini programs, etc.

Data from global market consultancy IDC showed that in 2025, the size of China's office AI market totaled 21.2 billion yuan ($3.2 billion). The market was expected to double to 44.9 billion yuan by the end of this year, and to exceed 332 billion yuan by 2029.

However, the penetration of office AI is still in an early stage. According to Baidu data, currently, its weekly active users of office AI are 1 billion, but the penetration rate of advanced functions is less than 12 percent.

Wang Ying, vice-president of Baidu, also president of the company's personal super intelligence group, said, "In the future, we will strive to improve the friendliness of office AI, shifting our tools from 'helping users solve existing problems' to 'actively helping them think of possible problems and solve them in advance'."
