China expects deeper cooperation with Malaysia as Anwar visits

China looks forward to further deepening cooperation with Malaysia and advancing the building of a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Guo made the remarks when asked about Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's visit to China to attend the 48th WorldSkills Competition and the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo.

China and Malaysia are good neighbors across the sea, good friends and good partners, Guo said, adding that bilateral relations have maintained sound momentum, and cooperation in various fields has made positive progress over the more than five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties.

The two countries are working together to build a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, he said.

Anwar's attendance at the two events reflects the close friendship between China and Malaysia as well as sound cooperation in relevant fields, Guo said.

China looks forward to working with Malaysia to further align their development strategies, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues, he added.
