China opposes illegal unilateral sanctions on Iranian airlines

China reiterated its opposition to illegal unilateral sanctions imposed without a basis in international law or authorization from the United Nations Security Council, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Guo made the remarks when asked about US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's warning that Iranian airlines would face difficulties operating globally under US sanctions and whether China would continue to accommodate Iranian flights.

"China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council," Guo said.
