Ruling party wins State Duma election
The ruling United Russia party won 57.83 percent of the votes in the election for the ninth State Duma — the lower house of parliament — Russia's Central Election Commission Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova told a news conference on Monday, citing preliminary results. The final results are expected to be announced on Friday, she said. Pamfilova said three other parties had made it into parliament — the Communist Party with 13.81 percent, the Liberal Democratic Party with 8.98 percent, and the New People with 7.96 percent. A Just Russia was just under the 5 percent threshold needed to enter parliament, but had "a big chance" of making it, she said.

Man shot, wounded by immigration agent
A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and wounded a Venezuelan national on Sunday in Austin, Texas, local authorities said. Anti-ICE protesters quickly gathered at the scene. The man was in serious but stable condition at a hospital after being shot once in the torso, city officials said. The DHS said it was leading an investigation into the officer involved in the shooting, with the help of the FBI.
