Zelensky, Trump agree to meet in New York

KYIV - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday evening that he and US President Donald Trump have agreed to meet in New York.

"This meeting could change a lot. There is diplomatic momentum," Zelensky wrote on X following a telephone conversation between the two leaders.

Zelensky said he and Trump discussed the visit to Ukraine by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, adding that advancing the peace process remained Kyiv's top priority.

He said they exchanged ideas on de-escalation measures and addressing fundamental security issues, including energy and food security and the protection of human lives.

Zelensky said Ukraine stands ready to continue working with the US team and take "really serious steps."
