3 injured in suspected landmine blast during ROK's border operation

SEOUL - Three were injured, including two critically wounded soldiers of the Republic of Korea, on Monday in a suspected landmine blast that occurred during an operation inside the demilitarized zone (DMZ), according to Yonhap News TV.

The incident took place while troops from the ROK army's 25th Infantry Division were conducting an operation in the frontline border area.

All three injured were sent to a military hospital for treatment.

It remained unclear whether the detonated device was a landmine buried by the ROK forces or the military of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The DMZ, which separates the two Koreas, is heavily fortified and is estimated to contain numerous buried landmines.
