WASHINGTON - The United States will allow top Iranian officials to attend next week's high-level United Nations (UN) meetings in New York, local media reported on Thursday, citing the US Department of State.

The decision was made "consistent with our host country obligations," the department was quoted as saying, adding the delegation will be "under travel restrictions and will face prohibitions on the purchase of luxury and other goods per our policy."

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week will start on Tuesday at the UN Headquarters in New York City. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the General Assembly on Wednesday.
