The story of Fujian and Ningxia behind Quiet Summer

In 2004, Taiwan songwriter Lee Cheng-fan visited Xihaigu in Ningxia Hui autonomous region with a volunteer teaching group and wrote Quiet Summer there. Its Chinese title is pronounced the same as "Ningxia".

Today, young volunteers are still carrying that spirit forward. "We pass the baton from one generation to the next," said Liu Weikun of Xiamen University's volunteer teaching team.
