CAIRO -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Thursday that Egypt is ready to deepen cooperation with China in trade, investment, industrial localization and clean energy.

At a press conference in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, Abdelatty said Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent state visit to Egypt was highly significant as it marked Xi's first state visit to the country in a decade and coincided with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He said Egypt is advancing the next phase of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone and will work to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, including promoting the localization of key industries such as electric vehicles.

Egypt will also strengthen cooperation with China in energy, particularly renewable and clean energy, Abdelatty said. "We will enhance the volume of trade and our cooperation, and we welcome the work of Chinese companies here."

On BRICS cooperation, Abdelatty said the world is facing many difficulties and crises, and the platform can help deepen economic and trade cooperation among its members. He added that Egypt values its BRICS membership and looks forward to closer cooperation with other member states.
