China urges India to ensure fair, non-discriminatory environment for foreign firms

China hopes India will provide a fair, just, transparent, and non-discriminatory environment for investment and operation for companies from all countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.

The spokesman's comment was made in response to reports that India's Serious Fraud Office has recommended Chinese tech company Xiaomi be investigated for alleged irregularities in its business model and compliance with foreign investment law, Reuters reported.

Economic and trade cooperation between China and India is mutually beneficial in nature, Guo said.
