Yuan weakens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 9 pips to 6.7804 against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
Rail workforce strengthened
The Chinese railway operator is adding new high-caliber graduates to strengthen its railway workforce. At Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Co Ltd, 63 new graduates from higher education institutions, including five undergraduates and four master's degree holders, started working at its Yuanping Track Depot on Sept 1. They will receive systematic training and on-site education to help them complete their transition from students to railway staff as soon as possible.
