Xi urges greater efforts to nurture capable young people for socialist cause

President Xi Jinping congratulated the popular children's radio program The Small Horn on Friday on the 70th anniversary of its launch, calling for greater efforts to nurture a new generation of capable young people for the socialist cause.

In a congratulatory letter, Xi said that over the past 70 years, the program has remained committed to telling good stories to children and has accompanied generations of children as they grew up.

Looking ahead, Xi expressed hope that the program's staff and professionals in children's culture would fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, keep pace with the times and continue cultivating the field of children's culture.

He called on them to create more outstanding works that promote truth, goodness and beauty and are beloved by children, thereby making greater contributions to nurturing a new generation of well-rounded socialist builders and successors.

A symposium marking the anniversary was held in Beijing on Friday. Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event, where he read Xi's letter and delivered a speech.

Vice-premier calls for closer China-Russia collaboration

China and Russia should strengthen synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Eurasian Economic Union, and further align China's Northeast revitalization strategy with Russia's Far East development strategy, Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang said on Thursday.

Ding made the remarks while addressing the 11th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia.

China remains the largest trading partner of Russia's Far East, he said, adding that key cooperation projects are moving forward at a faster pace, and the mutual visa-free policy has boosted both cross-border travel flows and cargo trade.

Higher-quality discipline inspection work stressed

Li Xi, a senior official of the Communist Party of China, has called for higher-quality discipline inspection and supervision work through better standards and more concrete measures.

Li, secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks during a fact-finding trip to Southwest China's Guizhou province from Tuesday to Thursday.
