Moves taken for rail safety amid flood risks
Railway operators have taken multiple moves to ensure the smooth transport of coal during flood-prone weather. Since the flood season began, the Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway has experienced multiple waves of extremely heavy rainfall, rendering flood prevention and safe rail-transport measures more challenging. Chawu Track Maintenance Depot in Shanxi province bolstered rainfall monitoring and early warnings, prepared anti-flood supplies and intensified patrols in key areas to eliminate hazards to rails and equipment. All staff united to address flooding risks, thus maintaining stable transport along Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, which carries some 350 million metric tons of coal each year.
