"While earning an income, local workers get first-hand access to a full suite of modern orchard-management skills, such as fruit-tree pruning, pest and disease prevention and intelligent-equipment operation," Wang said. "Many farmers are now capable of carrying out basic maintenance independently, growing into technically proficient agricultural specialists."
The orchard is a project of the SCO Demonstration Base for Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training, an agricultural high-tech hub in Yangling, Shaanxi province.
