Momenta revenue surges as world model drives autonomous mobility expansion

Momenta, a Chinese autonomous driving technology company, reported record revenue and a sharply narrowed loss in the first half of 2026, as its world model technology accelerated commercialization across assisted driving, Robotaxi and autonomous logistics businesses.

The company, which was listed in Hong Kong in July, said on Monday revenue rose 76 percent year-on-year to 1.6 billion yuan ($238 million) in the first six months of the year.

Gross profit, excluding share-based compensation expenses, climbed 75 percent to 1.2 billion yuan, with a gross margin of 75 percent.

Its adjusted net loss narrowed 97 percent year-on-year to 14.1 million yuan, while operating cash outflow fell 47 percent.

Following its initial public offering, Momenta's cash reserves exceeded 15 billion yuan, providing financial support for expansion into unmanned mobility services and overseas markets.

The company's assisted driving business remains its commercial foundation.

Momenta has partnerships with 26 global automakers and maintains the largest market share among third-party providers of urban navigation-on-autopilot, or NOA, solutions.

By Aug 31, cumulative installations of Momenta's systems in production vehicles had surpassed 1.1 million units.

More than 110 vehicle models have entered mass production, while the company has secured over 230 model nominations.

The latest 100,000 installations were achieved in just 36 days, underscoring the accelerating commercialization of its technology.

Momenta has also begun research and development for Level 3 autonomous driving systems, with mass production targeted for 2027.

At the center of the company's strategy is its World Model Foundation Platform, which combines pre-training, simulation and reinforcement learning to help autonomous systems better understand the physical world.

The company invested heavily in the technology during the first half, with R&D expenditure accounting for 73 percent of revenue and R&D personnel representing 79 percent of its workforce.

Momenta's R7 World Model, unveiled in March, is trained using more than 15 billion kilometers of real-world driving data, over 100 million selected data clips and more than 10 million kilometers of daily simulation.

The company plans to use the same model architecture across passenger vehicles, Robovan, Robotaxi and Robotruck applications, allowing data and technological advances from one business to benefit others.

Its autonomous Robovan service is already operating in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, while commercial Robotaxi operations are scheduled to begin this year in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.

In July, Momenta became the first Chinese company to receive a nationwide Level 4 autonomous driving test permit from Germany, allowing it to conduct testing on urban roads across the country.

The company is currently testing autonomous vehicles in six cities, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Abu Dhabi and Munich, and plans to expand its presence to more than 10 cities globally by the end of the year.

Momenta said its strategy is increasingly benefiting from a "Data-Compute-Model-Business" flywheel, in which growing vehicle deployments generate more real-world data, better-performing models win additional commercial opportunities, and rising revenue supports further investment in computing power and technology development.
