Intl cooperation must safeguard regional peace and stability: spokesperson

China has consistently maintained that cooperation between countries should be conducive to safeguarding regional peace and stability, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

Guo made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked to comment on reports that New Zealand and the United States plan to jointly build a large deep-water port in the Cook Islands, which could potentially support military activities in the future.
