Vice-premier to attend Eastern Economic Forum in Russia

Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang will travel to Russia from Wednesday to Friday to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum and take part in a series of China-Russia cooperation events, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun announced on Monday.

Ding will attend the forum, hold the 13th meeting of the China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee and the 23rd meeting of the China-Russia Energy Cooperation Committee, and participate in the 8th China-Russia Energy Business Forum, Guo said.

The 11th Eastern Economic Forum will be held from Tuesday to Friday in Vladivostok, Russia, Guo told a regular news briefing.

Ding will attend the plenary session of the forum and, together with Russian leaders, hold meetings of the China-Russia investment and energy cooperation committees, as well as the China-Russia Energy Business Forum. He will also meet with relevant Russian leaders, Guo said.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.

China stands ready to take the visit as an opportunity to work with Russia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote the high-level development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era and bring greater benefits to the two peoples, he said.

China also looks forward to strengthening communication with all parties, enhancing mutual trust, upholding openness and cooperation, and sharing development opportunities, Guo said.

Moreover, China is willing to make greater contributions to promoting common regional revitalization and development and improving the well-being of people in all countries, he added.
