From the catastrophic collapse of a glacier at 5,200 meters in Nepal to the debris flow crashing into the valley at Gyirong Port, roughly 1,800 meters above sea level, it took just seven minutes to cover 22 kilometers at an average speed of 50 meters per second. This mudslide was larger, faster, and more powerful, leaving downstream communities with an extremely narrow window to evacuate and causing even more devastating destruction and casualties.
