Thousands of Chengdu-made delivery robots hit European streets

Thousands of self-driving delivery robots made in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, have hit the streets of Europe, drawing attention for their compact design, smooth obstacle avoidance, and precise navigation.

Developed by Youngs Tech, based in Chengdu High-Tech Zone, the mass-produced Level 4 autonomous driving robot features a cargo capacity of over 60 liters and a payload of 20 kilograms. It supports rapid battery swaps and lasts over 12 hours of operation on a single charge.

Equipped with six-wheel all-wheel drive and independent suspension systems, the robot can climb obstacles up to 14 centimeters tall and operate in all weather conditions, the company said.

Each unit comes with a perception system that integrates LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors, along with centimeter-level high-definition maps and onboard millisecond-level path-planning algorithms, enabling deliveries at a speed of up to 10 kilometers per hour.

Currently, the robots mainly handle commercial orders for local food delivery, supermarket services, and last-mile logistics, according to the company.
