Railway cargo transport volume up

The China-Laos Railway has handled over 90 million metric tons of cargo since the railway began operation in 2021, with cross-border cargo surpassing 21 million tons, said China Railway Kunming Group Co Ltd. The number of cross-border freight trains operated daily has risen to a peak of 23, while the maximum hauling capacity per train has increased from 2,000 tons to 2,800 tons.

Yuan weakens against greenback

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 24 pips to 6.7841 against the US dollar on Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
