BEIJING -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein in Beijing on Monday.

Noting next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jordan, Li said China stands ready to work with Jordan to carry forward the traditional friendship, enhance political mutual trust, firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, continuously deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and forge ahead together on the path to modernization.

China is willing to strengthen development synergy with Jordan, jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, boost bilateral trade, expand cooperation in science and technology and industrial innovation in fields like green energy, electric vehicles and the digital economy, and deliver more tangible outcomes, Li said.

Li also called on both sides to step up cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and steadily deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

He said China is ready to work with Jordan and other relevant parties to make unremitting efforts to help de-escalate the situation in the Middle East and realize lasting peace and stability, expressing the hope that Jordan will continue to play an important role in the development of China-Arab relations.

King Abdullah II said the Jordanian side firmly adheres to the one-China policy and recognizes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

Taking the 50th anniversary of Jordan-China diplomatic ties as an opportunity, Jordan stands ready to enhance exchanges with China at all levels, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, mining, tourism and other fields, and explore cooperation in emerging areas such as renewable energy, scientific and technological innovation, and artificial intelligence, the king said.

The king also noted that the Jordanian side firmly supports the four global initiatives put forward by China and looks forward to working with China to elevate Arab-China relations to a new level.
