The Guangdong-Guangxi Interprovincial Pilot Cooperation Special Zone (GGCZ) expects annual industrial output to exceed 2 billion yuan ($298.5 million) this year, up from 1.9 billion yuan in 2025, an official said during a media visit to the zone on Friday.

Liao Xiangmao, of the GGCZ administrative committee, said the zone is targeting annual industrial production of between 2.5 and 3 billion yuan by 2030, the final year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). Investment promotion is currently focused on electronics, food processing, new energy, and energy storage industries, he said.

Located on the border of Fengkai county, Guandong, and Wuzhou city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, GGCZ covers a planned area of more than 140 square kilometers, split evenly between the two provinces. Its core zone alone covers 100 sq km. The zone is the first inter-provincial cooperation zone established in China, according to Liao, and has attracted more than 60 companies from around the country.

Liao cited competitive land and rental costs as a key advantage over industrial parks in the Pearl River Delta, with rents in the zone starting as low as 5 yuan per square meter. The zone is connected to the Pearl River Delta and the broader national network by high-speed rail and expressway.
