Japan urged to create conditions for normal exchanges ahead of lawmakers' visit
China on Friday urged those running the Japanese government to heed concerns within the country over the state of relations with Beijing and take concrete action to create conditions for normal bilateral exchanges.
"We have noted that some people of vision in Japan's ruling and opposition parties are deeply concerned about the current state of China-Japan relations and hope to contribute to bringing bilateral ties back onto the right track," Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told reporters at a regular news briefing.
The remarks came after media reports that a cross-party group of Japanese lawmakers plans to visit China from Monday to Thursday in an effort to help improve bilateral relations.
"We urge those running the Japanese government to listen to and take seriously these voices, abide by all the principles set out in the four political documents between China and Japan, and take concrete action to create the necessary conditions for normal exchanges between the two countries," Lin said.
