Huawei releases new off-road SUV onto market
Huawei's smart automotive ecosystem Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) has unveiled what it describes as its first technology-luxury off-road SUV, the Stelato G9, as the company ventures into the premium off-road segment.
The Stelato G9, available in five- and six-seat configurations with both all-electric and range-extended powertrain options, has been granted Beijing's L3 autonomous driving road test license permitting speeds of up to 120 km/h — the highest speed rating currently available in the industry, Huawei said.
It is the first production model to receive this designation and the first luxury off-road SUV built on an L3-autonomous driving architecture, the company added.
Yu Chengdong, Huawei's executive director and chairman of the terminal business group, said "The Stelato G9 is engineered for L3 autonomy from the ground up."
Unlike conventional vehicles that add autonomous features later, the G9's chassis integrates redundant systems across perception, computing, braking, steering, power supply, communication, positioning, and interaction to ensure operational safety when the system takes control.
Yu added that HIMA had delivered more than 1.5 million vehicles cumulatively in the four and-a-half years up to this month.
