There has been no report of Chinese nationals injured or killed in the earthquake in Colombia as of Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry has confirmed, while pledging to provide assistance in suitable ways in light of the country's need.

The Chinese embassy in Colombia is doing all it can to verify the safety of Chinese nationals in the quake zone and will actively provide necessary assistance, the ministry's spokesman Guo Jiakun said in an online statement on Wednesday.

He also advises Chinese nationals in the South American nation to exercise caution against possible secondary quake hazards.

China believes that, led by the Colombian government under the leadership of President Abelardo de la Espriella, the Colombian people will pull together and recover and rebuild soon, he said.
