Hami-Chongqing UHVDC project delivers 30 billion kWh to Chongqing
Harnessing ±800 kV UHVDC technology, the project channels wind and solar power from the Gobi Desert in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. During this summer's peak demand period, its maximum transmission power reached 6 million kilowatts, accounting for about one-fifth of Chongqing's peak electricity needs and significantly easing the strain on the local grid.
State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company attributes the project's reliable performance to advanced digital operation and maintenance systems, along with seamless coordination between converter stations at both ends of the transmission line. These facets have ensured a stable electricity supply for households and industries during the demanding summer months.
