China opposes the formation of exclusive blocs, and its cooperation with developing countries is not intended to win over or confront any third party, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Lin Jian, the ministry's spokesman, made the remarks in response to reports that the United States State Department is planning to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to counter China's growing influence in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

"Countries should develop normal relations and conduct normal cooperation without targeting any third party," he said at a regular news briefing.

China's cooperation with relevant countries and regions, especially developing countries, is aimed at jointly safeguarding world peace, promoting global development, upholding the international order, and building a community with a shared future for humanity, Lin said.
