As China's largest enclosed inland freshwater lake, Diaocha Lake links with the Hanjiang River. In recent years, local authorities have carried out ecological restoration projects including dike removal for lake restoration and water system connectivity to expand the lake's area to 48.7 square kilometers, with water quality consistently meeting Grade III standards.
Driven by the improving ecosystem, the number and species of birds coming to roost and reproduce have gradually risen.
