As the peak summer electricity demand period enters its critical phase, State Grid Yantai Power Supply Company has launched a summer grid operation and maintenance campaign ahead of schedule.

By comprehensively upgrading its inspection protocols for both high- and low-voltage lines and equipment, the company is focusing on lean device maintenance, special line patrols, heavy-load equipment governance, and emergency response readiness. Through multi-pronged measures, it is rigorously implementing all power supply guarantee tasks to safeguard reliable electricity supply for local livelihoods and industrial production.

In Haiyang city, Yantai, Shandong province, local power authorities have divided key supply areas into dedicated grids and formed multiple specialized inspection teams to conduct full-coverage hazard screening.

Efforts are concentrated on urban dense transformer districts, urban-rural fringes, industrial parks, high-temperature and heavy-load lines, as well as aging infrastructure. Using infrared thermometry, load monitoring, and equipment status analysis, crews have accurately identified heat-related defects — such as overheating components, cable degradation, loose pole foundations, and poor switch contacts — completing over 1,200 infrared temperature checks to date.

Measures including load redistribution, low-voltage outgoing line adjustments, equipment replacement, and new capacity deployment have effectively mitigated voltage fluctuations and overloads during peak residential usage, steadily improving supply quality and reliability.

Building on routine supply guarantees, extreme weather preparation serves as a crucial safety net. Aligning with seasonal risks such as short-term heavy rainfall, typhoons, and gales, the company has refined its emergency response plans, and stockpiled repair materials, flood-control gear, and emergency equipment. Dedicated maintenance teams and standby vehicles remain on 24-hour alert, systematically strengthening comprehensive resilience against extreme weather to hold the bottom line of grid security.
