Centered on daily active agents, DAA, Baidu demonstrated a series of new practices during the ongoing 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. DuMate, a productivity tool, is able to understand requirements, break down tasks, call tools, complete complex tasks across applications and files, and deliver directly usable results.

DAA was proposed by Robin Li Yanhong, founder and CEO of Baidu Inc, during the Create 2026 forum held in Beijing in May. Compared with traditional indicators such as model parameters and token consumption, DAA focuses more on how many agents truly enter business processes, complete tasks, and create value every day.

Meanwhile, Baidu Yijing, Baidu's digital human platform, debuted a dual-digital-human conversational video podcast. Through multi-person script arrangement, realistic aesthetics, and micro expression technology, the dual improvement of creative quality and production efficiency can be achieved.

Before the opening of the 2026 WAIC, Apollo Go, Baidu's autonomous ride-hailing service, inked a deal with Kazakhstan enterprise Turlov Private Holding Ltd in Shanghai. Both parties will jointly explore the introduction of autonomous vehicle transportation services in Kazakhstan. This is the first time that Chinese autonomous vehicles have entered the Central Asian market. As of May, Apollo Go has landed in 27 cities around the world and has completed more than 22 million services in total.

As global active agents move toward a scale of billion, DAA is no longer just a statistical indicator, but is more likely to become an important coordinate for observing the economy of intelligent agents and measuring AI productivity worldwide. Relying on full-stack technology capabilities and large-scale application practices, Chinese enterprises are also expected to play a more important role in the technological evolution, value assessment, and standard construction of the global AI industry, according to Baidu.
